Information You Submit
Search Terms
When you type a name, location, or similar search term into a partner search box, that query is sent to the third-party provider operating the tool. Santa Clara County Inmate Population does not store those search terms on its own server.
Messages
If you send an email or contact message, we may keep the message and contact details long enough to respond. We do not share those messages outside our organization unless a valid legal requirement applies.
Information Collected Automatically
Like most websites, this site may receive basic technical data when a page loads, including:
- Your IP address.
- Browser type and browser version.
- Device type and operating system.
- Pages viewed and time spent on those pages.
- The referring website, when one is provided.
- Date and time stamps.
Cookies
Cookies may be used to understand site traffic and improve the pages visitors use most. You can block cookies in your browser settings, but some site features or partner tools may behave differently when cookies are disabled.
How the Information Is Used
- To keep the site available, stable, and reasonably fast.
- To send search requests to the correct partner service.
- To understand which Santa Clara County jail and court pages are most useful.
- To diagnose errors, broken links, and other technical problems.
- To display advertising that may be relevant to visitors.
Other Websites and Public-Record Portals
This site links to the Santa Clara County Sheriff, ATIMS "Who's in Custody," Superior Court pages, CDCR CIRIS, VINELink, BOP, ICE ODLS, and outside search tools. Once you leave this site, the privacy policy of the destination site controls that visit.
Advertising partners may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and serve targeted ads. That tracking occurs through their technology, not through county jail or court systems.
Who May Receive Information
We do not sell personal data as a standalone product. Limited information may be handled by:
- Search partners that process submitted queries.
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance.
- Advertising networks that support site operations.
- Law-enforcement agencies, courts, or government bodies when a valid legal order requires disclosure.
Security
We use standard safeguards for a public informational website, but no internet-connected service can be guaranteed fully secure. We cannot promise that data transmission or storage will be immune from every unauthorized access attempt.
Visitors Under 18
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If a minor has submitted information, contact us so the material can be reviewed for deletion.
Your Privacy Choices
- Ask for a copy of personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate personal data.
- Ask for deletion when retention is not required.
- Opt out of certain processing where applicable under California privacy law, including the California Consumer Privacy Act, Civil Code section 1798.100 et seq., as amended.
